Day 10: 21-day conscious cleanseThere are many ways we can support ourselves while cleansing our systems. We've already spoken of the benefits of exercise. There are many other things we can do, however, to make life easier while on the programme.One of these is treating ourselves to a relaxing therapeutic massage or sauna once or twice over the 21 days. Deep tissue massage and swedish massage both help stimulate the lymphatic system to expel toxins more efficiently from the body. Going to a spa and treating yourself to a steam room/ sauna session (and even better, combining it with a gentle swim) will also help this process. And it feels good, somehow, to reward ourselves for our commitment to staying on the plan thus far!I had a tune-up yesterday by going to a good local acupuncturist yesterday - for the first time in years - and it felt all the better - and my body was possibly also more responsive to the treatment - for having disciplined my diet for so long beforehand. So, if it feels right to you, perhaps book yourself a treatment of your choice sometime over the weekend. If you can't justify the expenditure right now, getting out and about in nature for a long walk or gentle stroll is also good, especially if you have the time to really relax into it and breathe...Why not experiment with the breath a little - when you breathe out, try and expel all the air you can. This way, your next inhalation will be deeper and your lungs will fill to capacity. Before too long, you will be breathing much more deeply and you will start to feel a lot more relaxed. Oxygenating your body and blood like this, too, also helps support the detoxification process and helps your body expel toxins more efficiently.Tomorrow we talk about eating on the move!
