The Openhand Foundation

Chris Bourne lived a relatively traditional life until the age of 40, when a car accident catalysed a phase of profound inner change. In the moment of total surrender when he felt he ‘would surely die’, he experienced a rapid expansion of consciousness. For Chris, this signalled the beginning of a ‘frequently painful, sometimes terrifying’ journey “through five ‘gateways of light’, leading to my enlightenment and ascension”.

Five Gateways is a full-length documentary-film brought out earlier this year, which explores those five shifts of consciousness and provides a useful route map to anyone on a journey of conscious spiritual expansion. “For forty years of my life,” says Chris, “I had lived in darkness. I had been cast adrift in the virtual prison we call the mind [...] Through that journey of inner unfolding, I was reconnected with the place of universal knowing, a vast cosmic library of divine energy I have come to know as ‘unity consciousness’; an imperishable flow of unconditional love that we can all gain access to by letting go of the governance of the mind and surrendering into the heart”.

Chris has now founded the Openhand Foundation, a UK not-for-profit organisation, and now helps guide others through their own journey of awakening, through these five gateways to enlightenment and ascension.

I met Chris about nine years ago and have watched Openhand grow and develop over this time. In my view, this is authentic and powerful work – and as helpful for those who have been consciously ‘working on themselves’ for some time, as to those just starting out – and perhaps experiencing rapid spiritual shifts that they’re not quite sure how to deal with.
